On the 67th Republic Day, the names of those receiving the top civilian honours were announced. Mumbai based documentary Photographer Sudharak Olwe was one of them.
The ex DNA agency photographer received the award for his long standing work and stories with critical social impact.
Recently, his work on the sanitation workers of Mumbai has received critical acclaim. It was published in a photo-book, last year titled ‘In Search of Dignity and Justice The Untold Story of Conservancy Workers’ .
